Console Table Refresh
I’d been wanting to update the console table we use as an entertainment center for our TV, after not being able to find a pole wrap style that I liked, I saw another picture on Pinterest that gave me the final idea.(below) Our console table has two glass doors that show everything inside, our board games, router and internet cables, it always bothered me how busy and distracting it looked so it was time for a change!
Once I was armed with this vision I did a quick Amazon search to find a natural rattan and found a roll of rattan webbing, linked here. (Between you and me, I wish I had used this one!) I painted it black and cut it to fit the doors of our console table. I tossed around the idea of removing the glass from the doors so the new texture would be more visible but in the end decided it would be too much trouble to attempt.
I’ll spare you the details of my mistakes and mishaps along the way, save that I did mess up, it wouldn’t be a proper DIY without having to start over a time or two! I cut the rattan webbing to be slightly wider than the opening and secured it with metal pushpins that I hammered in, and then I painted over the pushpins.
I LOVE how the project turned out. I thought I would mind the contents of the cabinets being slightly visible, but I don’t mind the end result at all, even though its not completely opaque as I would have liked, it’s a lot less busy and more calming to the eye. I honestly don’t have a “before” picture, I’m definitely not a home improvement influencer!😂
What do you think of the final result? Let me know if you tackle something similar, I’d love to see pictures! Xx Aimee
