An Afternoon On Melrose Avenue

If you missed it, I was recently invited to come to LA by Sézane (blog post linked here) and while I was there, I stopped by some shops I’ve always wanted to step into!

First stop: glossier

I LOVE Glossier and have for many years, they are the queens of minimal makeup and have drastically changed my makeup routine for the better. Their store was an EXPERIENCE - think: the Apple store but for makeup! Employees filter in and out to make sure your questions are answered and that you find what you’re looking for and when you’re ready to make a purchase you pay with them on an ipad and a few minutes later another employee emerges from the back, calls out your name and hands you your order! I left with the “skywash” lid tint in echo, which goes on as liquid but dries down to a powder and it’s so easy to blend with your fingers! Linked here. I also bought one of their contour “solar paint” products in flare, also very easy to blend out with my fingers. I’m all for a quick routine these days! Linked here.

The Real Real

Luxury consignment - exactly what it sounds like! Glorious designer brands, some new, some deliciously vintage, and all worth browsing! I didn’t take anything home with me this trip but I loved visiting.

Of course I went right to the white edit, and promptly fell in love this Burberry dress that was about $600 out of my price range but man it was beautiful!

Clare V

I’ve only ever seen Clare V bags online and oh my gosh what a thrill to feel and see all their wares in person! They’re a woman owned bag company and they are pricey, which is why I am waiting to make my first purchase. I’m so glad I stopped by to see everything, including the customizable straps, for myself because I can now confirm - they’re worth the hype. The store was so beautifully curated and displayed things in a delightful color palette that screamed “Touch me!” I now know exactly which bag is for me.

Outdoor Voices

A brand I’m not super familiar with but again, had only seen online so I wanted to stop and visit! They’re athletic wear is really well made and I tried a few things on but didn’t end up taking anything home.

Rothys

This is a shoe company that makes the coolest footwear out of recycled plastics retrieved from the ocean, and has been on my radar for a long time! I haven’t made a purchase yet but being in the store helped me know exactly what style and color would be my perfect match. One of the employees was also super helpful about sizing and what typically works for people.

Chloé

My last stop before heading to the airport was Chloé, a luxury designer brand, completely out of my price range but I know I’m not alone in enjoying a luxury store experience! I didn’t take any pictures inside, but I snapped a few photos of the stunning location of the store which made it feel even more opulent.

It was truly such an enjoyable trip all around, but especially the afternoon of shopping at a few of my favorite stores was the cherry on top! Have you been to any of these stores or have any bucketlist shops?
